flooring after rubber back carpet, paint and linoleum
removed.

After: Good for another 150
years! Sanded and finished with three coats of
oil-modified semi-gloss polyurethane. The cost is
roughly the same as new carpet.

but we can blend the floorboards to cover up patches if
desired) |
Refinish Procedure
Dust containment is our number one priority. This procedure
includes, masking off rooms that will not be sanded, masking off
gaps between frames and doors and covering immobile dust sensitive
items such as ranges, refrigerators and microwave ovens. We will do
our very best to protect your home from the inevitable small
particles of sanding dust that escapes into the air. Our sanding
equipment has the most efficient, built-in dust trapping systems to
further protect your home.
Sanding Procedure
Cupped or crowned floorboards may need diagonal sanding to flatten
the entire floor. The first leveling or stripping cuts are made with
a coarse #36 grit, followed by a #60 and #100. Between grit changes
several applications of latex are made. Wood filler, matching the
color of the floor are used to fill nail holes and large cracks.
Applying the Finish
To help you find the right stain for you and and your home, samples
can be put directly on the floor during the sanding process. Once
the pressure-free decision is made, the stain is applied to the
floor. After thoroughly drying, two coats of oil- or water-based
urethane is applied.
Timeframe
We will give you an accurate estimate, from start to finish, when we
visit your home for measurements. It is best not to occupy the house
when staining and finishing occurs. The smell can be unpleasant, but
the temporary inconvenience with be well worth the wait. |
